Welcome

G'day mates, this is me and my beloved husband Niels' blog where we'll share our experiences from our fantastic honeymoon. We've been together for 3 years now, and is finally married. We're SO happy for each other, and we both love animals and nature very much, so what place would be more perfect to visit than wonderfull Australia?

And since that we are homosexual, we obviously booked a hotel in Sydney, that is known for it's gayness. Sydney also hosts the big homosexual carnival, Mardi Grass, that appears as planned when we're present.... so Australia here we come!

Danger Australia

When we came home after Niels' collision with the sweet red kickboxer kangaroo,  I went on the internet and read about this creature, and actually found out that, the red kangaroo, in latin called Macropus rufus, which means "Red bigfoot". Actually can be quite dangerous although they look cute.

I think it looks cute

A big male, maybe a leader?

The Red Kangaroo is the largest living marsupial. Males can grow between 2.3 metres and weigh up to 198 pounds. That's a pretty big kangaroo if you ask me. And remember all of these numbers are roughly-numbers ofcause, but true

The female is smaller and have a blue-grey colour, usually called the "blue flier". The Red Kangaroo hops on its powerful back legs, and reaches the speed of 38 miles per hour.
Kangaroos usually stay in the same area, but if there's a drought they can travel up to 112 miles, looking for food.

the claws

Macropus Rufus has an impressive jump, it can leap over a
10 feet high fence, and it's jumping strides can be over
17 feet long! and a big quality is,
that it uses about the same amount of energy
hopping fast as it does hopping slowly.

Here's a video that shows a untamed male in a studio.
Surprisingly attack
Look at this incredible jump

When a red kangaroo baby is born it's blind and has no fur.
And it's about same size as a bean

Diet and habitat

The Red Kangaroos eats grass and other vegetation.
They can go for long periods of time without drinking,
because most of their required moisture comes
from green plants.

They live in dry scrub areas and
open savannahs of Australia.
Either they live alone, in small groups or they
gather together in larger groups, rarely over 1.000.
But massive groups has been seen
by around 1.500

A group of Kangaroos are known as a mob.
Male Kangaroos are known as boomers
females as flyers and young as joeys.
Magnificent animal.

Kangaroos fight by standing on their rear legs and boxing with their front legs/arms.
They can also balance its whole body on their stong tail, next, they lift their back legs of the ground and hit out with their sharp rear feet .
